These are all great reasons to plan a tournament But, tournaments are becoming more and more popular so don't just choose a tournament because it is popular, it should ideally match your cause and target audience. Define your audience and your goal prior to starting.
- Who are you targeting? Understanding the target will help you to gauge their golf experience which will determine the format for the event. Beginning golfers tend to prefer scrambles while a more experienced group may prefer a best ball format. Your format can make or break the event.
- What resources do you have/need? If you already have connections for any of the needed elements such as; sponsors, the course, team recruiting, food or volunteers this will make your work much easier. You will want to tap those resources right away and see what will pan out so you can get a feel for the amount of work you are in for to properly execute the rest of the details
